A day in the life of Paul Hilditch, Project Manager

We caught up with one of our Project Managers, Paul Hilditch, to shine a light on the role Project Managers play in Dunamis’ design and build of high voltage connections and networks across the UK.

A bit about Paul:

Having begun his career in civil engineering, Paul made the move into the HV market in 2014, managing substation refurbishments and builds. Over the next 10 years he progressed in his career, developing a deep understanding of the HV sector.

He joined Dunamis in September 2023 as a Civils Agent and has quickly progressed to become a Project Manager.

What’s a typical day like for a Dunamis Project Manager?

“I can’t say that any day is typical, but one thing that you can guarantee is there’s always a lot of multi-tasking to be done. For me, that’s a good thing, I thrive on the challenges that come with having several, often complex, projects live at once, as well as those in the early stages of development.

That’s one of the great things about project management, you are involved in the full scope of a project. From working with the design team, producing project programmes and engaging with all project stakeholders across the entire supply chain, to oversee site operations, both on site and remotely.

Keeping a good dialogue across the entire project’s delivery team is fundamental to the success of a scheme. Importantly, I’m the face of Dunamis and the key point of contact for our customers during delivery, and I’m passionate about making sure the experience they have is a really positive one.

I have the support of our excellent site supervisors to achieve this, how play a key role in the successful execution of our projects and act as my eyes and ears when I’m not on site.”

What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

“My entire focus is to ensure an on time and on budget delivery. So, naturally the moment a project is energised successfully is hugely satisfying, especially when we receive fantastic customer feedback. There’s also a huge sense of teamwork that comes with the delivery of each project.

I’m proud to play an important part in the successful delivery of our high voltage connections and understand that this contributes to Dunamis’ wider success. Our reputation for expert delivery is helping to generate repeat business, is bringing in new opportunities, and is attracting more great people who want to work at Dunamis.”

Why Dunamis?

“Dunamis is really going places, particularly with the opportunities in renewable energy. There is a real buzz about the business and the team here. When you give good energy, people will want to work with you and everyone does that, which creates a winning formula, and our clients recognise this.

I’ve already seen and experienced the progression opportunities at Dunamis. I have more ambitions for my career, and I believe I can achieve them at Dunamis.”
