In this new role Garet will oversee a team of seven technical specialists encompassing design, technical and commissioning disciplines to ensure the safe and effective delivery of projects.
The commissioning team are charged with assessing and moderating every stage of a project, from pre-contract through to energisation. Garet brings a wealth of experience to this position with more than two decades of experience in protection engineering and commissioning.
Having started his career as an Apprentice Fitter with Freedom he progressed in the business to become a Protection Engineer. In 2013 Garet set out with colleagues to establish their own business providing HV and commissioning services, where he was a director for more than six years.
Over his career he has gained experience in all aspects of primary and secondary commissioning to voltages from 415V to 132kV working across the UK and overseas in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
He was approached to join Dunamis’ parent company, Fulcrum Group to provide contracting services in protection and commissioning in 2019, and during the past five years has worked primarily on projects for Dunamis and its sister business, Maintech Power.
With Dunamis’ growing presence in the HV market, including the expansion of its Commissioning Team, it is playing a pivotal role in the delivery of an expanded portfolio of high voltage connection projects across the solar energy, battery storage, onshore wind and industrial and commercial sectors.
It is one of only a small number of ICPs in the UK accredited on the LRQA NERS register with the ability to design and deliver electrical infrastructure projects up to 132kV.
I am really excited to lead this excellent team at Dunamis as we provide the highly meticulous, safety-driven protection and commissioning works, which ensures effective levels of project delivery.
Working closely with both our engineers and clients, we oversee every step of a project, providing an objective view on the full programme of activity before taking the scheme to energisation. It is a fascinating specialism within HV engineering, and I am very proud to take on this new role.
The skills and competencies Garet has developed throughout his career, including his time with Dunamis and Maintech Power, are second to none and he is the ideal person to take on this new role. As we are delivering an increasing number of complex, high voltage projects, the role of the protection and commissioning has become even more fundamental and I am delighted that Garet will be leading the team.
